About John Thompson Bursaries 2020-2021
ACTOM (Pty) Ltd’s division, John Thompsons, is awarding bursary programmes at the moment to students who are highly dedicated towards the field of environmental solutions. Mainly prioritized for final year students in accredited South African tertiary institutions, the John Thompson Bursaries are given out to students who are pursuing in any of these following fields below:

  • Finance & Accounting
  • Information Technology
  • Engineering
  • Human Resource Management
  • Safety & Quality Management.

Moreover, the John Thompson Bursaries are also awarded to students who are studying to become a Welder (finishing their N1, N2, N3 or N4,N5,N6 qualifications), or a Boilermaker (finishing their N1, N2 & N3 qualification.)

John Thompson Bursary Requirements
The John Thompson Bursary is intended for students who display astounding academic potential and talent in any of the courses the have been previously mentioned above. On top of that, there is a strict set of eligibility criteria that must be met in order to guarantee success into the programme. Each of these items below will play a crucial role into your acceptance. Failure to meet all of these criteria might cause disadvantageous consequences towards the overall results of your application procedure.

The John Thompson Bursary Requirements are as stated below:
General Qualifications

  • Valid proof of candidates’ residency
  • Valid academic transcript
  • Written schedule of the financial requirements issued by the candidates’s respective tertiary institution
  • Written household income from both parents
  • Valid copy of your Identity Document
  • Note: all documents must be within 3 months of issuing.

Applicants of Welder Bursary

  • Be able to provide a Matric Examination Qualification with these following scores:
    • 50% pass mark in Mathematics
  • Or, be able to provide an N3 Qualification with these following scores:
    • 50% pass mark in Mathematics
    • 50% pass mark in Engineering Drawings
  • Originating from the Mpumalanga Province, Majuba District.

Applicants of Boilermaker Bursary

  • Be able to provide a Matric Examination Qualification with these following scores:
    • 60% pass mark in Mathematics
  • Originating from the Mpumalanga Province, Majuba District.
