The Ehlanzeni District Municaplity Internships, conducted in Mbombela, is targeted towards graduates who have not been employed in the job market. By joining this opportunity, participants will acquire the basic skills and transform into an attractive working asset in the eyes of their future employers. As an added bonus, interns will be given R120 000 each year as per the internship contract.

The Ehlanzeni District Municaplity Internships are offering these following programmes:

  1. Individual Performance Management Intern
  2. Information Technology Intern
  3. GIS Professional Trainee (Internship)

1. Individual Performance Management Intern
As an Individual Performance Management Intern, you will be tasked with the responsibility of helping out with the Individual Performance Management Unit. During this period, interns must constantly be in touch with the Senior Manager. Below are just some of the intern’s task and duties during the programme:

  • Supervising the overall Individual Performance Management System
  • Being involved the existing policies and procedures of IPM
  • Working together in concepting workshops to enhance the Departmental Unit
  • Tending to the Performance Agreements and all of its relevant reports
  • Conducting any other relevant administrative matters, as accordingly.

To become an Individual Performance Management Intern, you will need to fulfill these following requirements:
A. Basic Qualifications

  • A Grade 12 qualification
  • A three-year Degree or National Diploma in any one of these courses:
    • Human Resources
    • Public Administration
    • Auditing
    • Development Studies
  • Basic understanding of Computer Literacy

B. Working Attributes

2. Information Technology Intern
As an Information Technology Intern, you will be tasked in the ICT department and will constantly coordinate with the Senior Manager. In addition, these are some of the responsibilities interns are expected to perform during the programme:

  • Giving the proper maintenance for all IT services
  • Installing the required computerware
  • Solving any ICT-related issues
  • Keeping track of the ICT inventory
  • Ensuring a smooth operation of all process systems
  • Giving the necessary technical assistance when needed.

To become an Information Technology Intern, you will need to fulfill these following requirements:

A. Basic Qualifications

  • A Grade 12 qualification
  • A three-year Degree or National Diploma in Information Technology A+ and N+
  • Has any other available equivalent qualification.

B. Working Attributes

  • Has a strong understanding in the IT department
  • Shows experience in troubleshooting problems
  • Displays positivity through working
  • Has practical experience in the IT sector
  • Can work with other departments.

3. GIS Professional Trainee (Internship)
In the GIS Professional Internship, participants will play a crucial role in the department and must adhere to the Conditions of Service of Ehlanzeni District Municipality. As a intern, you will be mainly asked to collect and capture data for spatial analysis and map production.

To become an GIS Professional Internship, you will need to fulfill these following requirements:
A. Basic Qualifications

  • Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa
  • Currently not employed by a company
  • Has never been in an internship programme before
  • Must agree to the terms of the internship agreement
  • Has a Driver’s License (optional, but advantageous)
  • A Grade 12 qualification
  • A three-year Degree or National Diploma in Geographic Information Sciences
  • Basic understanding of Computer Literacy
  • Strong foundation in ESRI ArcGIS software.
